Judy Nelson, DMSc, PA-C
Judy Nelson is a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) with more than 36 years of experience in clinical and surgical practice.
Dr. Nelson has earned distinctive recognition since the beginning of her career. She graduated at the top of her class from the Emory University Physician Assistant Program (Atlanta, GA) after earning her undergraduate degree from Stetson University (Deland, FL). She went on to earn a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) from the University of Nebraska (Omaha, NE) and completed her Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree through the University of Lynchburg (Lynchburg, VA).
In 2009, the American Academy of Physician Assistants recognized Dr. Nelson as a “Distinguished Fellow”, an honor awarded to the top physician assistants in the country. The award is made to those who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to their profession, commitment to advancing health care for all people, and exemplary personal and professional development.
Prior to joining Jacksonville Hearing & Balance Institute, Dr. Nelson was on staff at Mayo Clinic for 11 years. Throughout her career, she has been involved in teaching and research, including being a clinical preceptor for the University of Florida Physician Assistant Program. She has been involved in the education of physician assistants, medical students, residents and fellows for over three decades.
When she is not caring for her patients, her personal time is spent with her 96-year-old mom, animal rescue and supporting orphanage work in Haiti. She also supports the work of Dr. Green’s non-profit, Hearing Help for Africa.
