Do You Have Hearing Aids to Dispose Of?
Have you recently upgraded your hearing aids and have an extra set laying around? Have you inherited hearing aids and are unsure what to do with them? Please don’t throw them out! Your hearing aid is likely to have a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which means it cannot be disposed of in regular waste.
Typically, hearing aids must be taken to an electronics recycling facility, along with other electronics needing to be thrown out. Note that charities like Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity, and Catholic charities are unable to accept hearing aid donations.
But did you know that there is a much better use for old hearing aids? Rather than recycling them, how about giving them a second life by helping those in need?

Hearing Help for Africa: A Mission for Used Hearing Aids
Your hearing aid could change the life of someone with hearing loss in Nigeria. Our mission, Hearing Help for Africa, collects used hearing aids to bring with and dispense during our annual trip.
Many times, old hearing aids can be refurbished or simply reprogrammed and can be used for many years to come. We also collect hearing aid supplies like wax filters, domes, disposable batteries, and chargers to accompany the hearing aids we fit.
Hearing aids can be dropped off at Jacksonville Hearing & Balance Institute or mailed to our office at:
